Frequently Asked Questions
HOME RANGER – MODEL 240
How do you secure your pulley to the door?
Select a door in your home where there is little or no traffic. Place the web strap over the top or along the hinged side of the door so that, when closed, the rubber tip is on the opposite side of the door. Pull on the web strap to wedge it firmly in the door. Be sure the door is closed and locked before starting to exercise. For optimum safety, the door gap limit should not exceed 3/16″.
What do the rope markings mean?
As your shoulder improves and motion is gained, the rope needs to be shortened. This can be done by tying a non-slip knot at the desired length. The marks on the rope are your gauge to show you and the therapist how much progress you have made.
Why are there black marks on the rope?
They are markers to gauge the shortening of the rope. When the rope is shortened, it shows progress in your range of motion. Consult with your therapist prior to shortening the rope.
How do I shorten the rope?
Underneath the handle you will see the knot of the rope. Pull it through to the length desired and tie another non-slip knot at the desired length. Knot the rope under the handle to secure it. Do not undo the original knot.
Why are the handles shaped like a half moon?
These are ergonomic handles that allow for a comfortable grip.

Usually, your healthcare professional will allow you to start use as soon as you get home from the hospital, but consult with them first.

We suggest you use the Home Ranger Knee Pulley three times per day. Your surgeon or physical therapist may recommend knee replacement patients and those with osteoarthritic knees to perform the joint distraction phase to decrease pain even more frequently.
Is it normal to experience discomfort with extension and flexion exercises?
Discomfort, yes, pain, no. Reaching your full range of motion goal is a gradual process. Stop or back off on the use of the Knee Pulley if you are experiencing pain, and contact your physician or therapist.
How will the knee pulley help me?
The knee pulley’s joint distraction capability (instruction booklet, pages 5-6) can help reduce pain. Flexion and extension exercises performed with the knee pulley improve range of motion.
What is self-administered distraction?
A slight pull on the knee joint. It relieves joint pressure and reduces pain. It is used by many physical therapists in the clinic.

See instructions on this video to adjust the handles on your tubing.
FREE-UP MASSAGE CREAM
What makes this cream so special?
Although Free-Up® is used by everyone, it was originally developed by a physical therapist for the healthcare industry. It has superb tissue perception, amazing glide, and excellent lubricity. A little goes a long way.

This product contains the same items you’ll find in most over-the-counter personal care items. It does not contain beeswax or nut oils. If you are super sensitive, we would suggest doing a small patch test first.
What’s the difference between Unscented and Fragrance Free?

Free-Up is sold to the healthcare market. Check with your healthcare professional, or buy it directly through PrePak on our website.
